Becoming a member of the Harborough Singers

We welcome enquiries from singers of all voices

Members need a good blending voice and, although sight reading is not a pre-requisite, the ability to pick up quickly and follow a line of music is important. It is not unknown to pick up a new piece of music on a Friday night and perform it to our high standard on the Saturday evening.

Unusually, the basic rehearsal structure involves meeting on a monthly basis for intensive weekend rehearsals in Market Harborough on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Additional rehearsals are occasionally organised as required, possibly mid week, again in Market Harborough.

With this type of format, it is important for potential members to demonstrate a high level of commitment both in attendance at arranged rehearsals and between-rehearsal personal practise.

Musically, we aim to perform as wide a range of repertoire as possible, and have a busy and varied concert programme both in Leicestershire and around the country. We aim to have a short trip outside the UK every two years.

Acceptance as a member of the choir is dependent upon a successful audition at your first rehearsal with the musical director, David Beavan. If you wish to be considered for a place in the choir, in the first instance please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
